What's The Best RSS Reader App For Mac? [Let's Talk]

With the launch of Mountain Lion, Apple also pushed out an update to Safari which removed the RSS button so many people loved. We received a lot of email over the past 24 hours asking what the best RSS Reader Apps for Mac are, but we figure you guys read just as much news as us, so why not ask you?

What's the best RSS Reader App for Mac, and why? What do you look for most in an RSS Reader?

Reeder is really good. I have also Caffeinated. This issue is you have to rely on google, that doesn't always have the latest updates.

I've tried a lot of them, and honestly, nothing beats Google Reader for me just out of sheer convenience. Then again, I work with a LOT of RSS feeds (hundreds upon hundreds), and across numerous devices.

do you guys prefer an RSS Reader app over using a web-based solution like Google Reader? Web based is usually so much faster that most of us at Cult of Mac don't bother with RSS apps

For the reading expeience, cross Mac/iOS, it has to be Reeder. For speed of access, Google Reader.

I'm still actually using NetNewsWire. The free version. I haven't seen any reason to upgrade to one of the other ones so far. Works for me.

Reeder all the way. The ease of use, the rich browser experience within the app and the format is great on the mac. But for the iPad i would say newsify, a free app is the best.

I used NetNewsWire (the free version) for the greater part of the last year. I just purchased Reeder today to replace it. Both are good options, but I already use reeder on my iPhone and iPad. Very consistent.

Caffeinated.

I'm not sure why so many people have this love affair with Reeder. I own it as well but the bland interface puts me to sleep every time. If I wanted a grayed-out, bland surroundings I'd go hang out in a jail-cell.

I tried to like Caffeinated, but ran into some bugs in it that I just couldn't stick with it; I do like how you can go directly to their website and try it free for 15 days though.

Since Caffeinated disappointed me, I moved onto Reeder and have to say I am quite happy. I didn't want to follow the herd but the herd was right in this case.

Oh, and just to add: for iOS, I am a big Newsify fan. I suggest a look at that.

Reeder has worked the best for me. I have tried almost all of them but always come back to Reeder.

I love Reeder on the iPad and iPhone, but on the Mac the lack of image pre-fetching KILLS me. My internet at work is slow and I can't stand waiting for the pictures to load every time I flip to the next article.
