Excited To Get Your iPhone 5 This Morning? [Let's Talk]

brownleebrownlee Posts: 242Administrator admin

Good morning! If you got in on the preorder crush last Friday within the first hour, you're probably not even reading these words, but tucked into your warm bed, dreaming of iPhone 5s and dancing Wozzes. If you didn't, though, we know where you are: camped outside of your local Apple Store in the cold, going absolutely bonkers with anticipation for Apple's best phone yet.

So line-waiters, this post is for you. Tell us a few things. Where are you? What time is it there? How big's the line you're in? And, most importantly, which iPhone 5 are you getting?

Me, I'm getting too rickety in the bones for lines, so I'm waiting for my 64GB white iPhone 5 on Verizon to leave the Fed Ex sort facility in South Boston. How about you? Let's talk about it!

Long night in SLC, UT. The gates are open and there's only about 60 people in front of me!

Waiting for my 64GB Black/Slate to arrive at the office this morning. Poor UPS folks are most likely having a field day so I'll try and remain calm, lay off the caffeine and quit hitting the refresh button on their tracking website :)

My Pops went last Friday to preorder a White 32GB iPhone 5. He was first in, first to preorder, and received the following email last night:

I know that you're excited to get your new iPhone 5 and you can be sure we are as excited to sell it to you. Unfortunately, as of the night before the official launch, Best Buy® has not received enough of the specific model phone you ordered, and we will not have it available on launch day. You can be certain that we are working very hard to get you, as quickly as possible, the exact iPhone 5 model you pre-ordered. It could take as long as 28 days to find the iPhone you want. However, there is no doubt that the fact you pre-ordered a phone from Best Buy means you will be able to buy it before any consumer trying to find one on their own.

Trust us, we will be able to get you the phone you want – maybe not as fast as you might want, but likely as fast as anyone else at this point.

I really appreciate your patience and willingness to shop Best Buy. We look forward to getting you the phone you ordered with us.
What an unfortunate turn of events. Not the end of the world, but I can't say that this failing electronics retailer has surprised me.

That's stupid. He can literally walk into an Apple Store around noon and probably get the iPhone he wants from an Apple Store. Don't trust Best Buy, they, course, want his money even if it means that he'll be unhappy for a while. Up to 28 days? Shit, might as well just look for the phone on his own at that point.

I decided not to pre-order which I'm wondering now was such a bright idea. Last year, I walked into Target on launch day and bought my 4s. Unfortunately, Target was taking pre-orders this year (I didn't even think Target did Pre-orders). I'm gonna try the ATT store first, then try Target.

I really want it, but it's not the end of the world if I don't get it today (although my husband's original iphone is about ready to die LOL).
