Would You Buy A Colorful iPad Mini? [Let's Talk]

We're expecting Apple to announce the iPad Mini really soon. Production is ramping up, and the keynote is rumored to take place next week. By now Apple's got all the details in place for the first generation iPad Mini, and it's more than likely only going to come in black and white, but what if Apple made the iPad Mini as colorful as the new iPod Touches?

Gizmodo's been playing around with iPad Mini concept art, changing the back plating to match the new colors of the iPod Touch, and it looks really good. A red or yellow iPad Mini would look pretty sweet, and because it's going to be a cheaper tablet, parents are probably going to be buying a lot of iPad Mini's for their kids at Christmas, and kids love the hell out of colorful products. Do you think Apple should release the iPad Mini in a rainbow of colors like they do with iPods and the original iMac?

I personally wouldn't (I like white) but I think the idea of colored iPad Minis is awesome!

I think it could be interesting, but I still think Apple is pulling for a higher-end product look. I think I might get an all black mini if the leaked images have been correct.

No, I think the latest iPod's look absolutely horrible. The iPad's wouldn't look any better... The previous iPod models did colour properly, because it was "full" colour, not just the back with a white front. Quite honestly, they just look like cheap toys at the moment, and the iPad mini would look the same if they do that... If they do add colour, I'd just get a white or black one, looks more elegant and simple.

@chriscrk hmmm...I haven't played with any of the new iPod Touches in real life yet, so I wouldn't know whether they look cheap or not. I don't think adding color makes an object look cheap, and I actually like that they just have a color back with black or white front. it adds just a splash of fun while keeping the rest of the device serious looking.

I like the idea of all the colors and that is definitely good marketing for kids and what-not but I'm still going to go with either black or white most likely.

I don't think they look cheap per-say and anyone who knows Apple's quality control will know otherwise but I agree, if it was solid color all around and not just part of it that'd be nicer. I'm also going for Black most likely though.

I'd like to buy one, but I'd probably end up saving over € 800 for both an iPad mini (black, white, grey or blue) and a new phone.

I love the idea personally, but why does all the concept art show the Apple logo set low instead of high or even centered on the back. Seems sorta weird to me.

I disagree that they look horrible but I agree they look toyish. Which makes sense as it seems they are being marketed at the kiddies. Bright happy colored toys so Mom and Dad will buy them one and stop coming in yelling about how they should get a free replacement cause Junior was playing a game and dropped the iPhone.

Well, I'm obviously judging by what I've seen online, as anyone else, as the current line up isn't available anywhere yet, I believe?
As far as its structure goes, it looks very sleek and beautiful, but it's the colour that throws me off. Even if the colour is only in the back, you still see have a small coloured border on the front (or at leas that's how it shows on Apple's website), and I think it looks horrible and distracting... Same with the new iTunes set to come out later this year, it's nice and elegant with a white/grey design, and then you suddenly have this ugly blue music icon on the top left and it throws off all the balance...

I really like the colours. I'd personally stick with white but it looks as if Apple are getting their fun back.

I wouldn't mind...actually i would encourage it...gives more variety.
It makes ipad mini more refreshing...or more fun-like.
