Running iPhone battery down all the way?

coronaxcoronax Posts: 0Member
I just recently ditched my android for a iPhone 5. At the apple store I was told to make sure and run the battery down first all the way and then fully charge it. Is this correct for the li-ion battery it has? If it is should it make any difference if I didn't run it down on the first charge but probably will on the second charge?

Thanks,
k

When you receive the phone it will have quite a bit of charge to it (my 4S had a 72% charge when I turned it on).

Letting the battery drain all the way and then charge all the way is a good way to keep the battery in good health. It helps the battery and the phone itself maintain an ability to fully charge.

As for your question itself, no, it shouldn't matter if it's for the 1st or 2nd charge. My advice is to actually give it what is called a "cycle" charge every month.
