bad apple senior tech support! is there a way to recover deleted photos from iphone 4s?

I am trying to find my happy bubble again. Is there a way to recover images and movies once "deleted from device". Story of how this came about below, in case useful.

Long day with tech support and long story short, senior tech support for iphone screwed up and caused a preventable loss of pics and videos very valuable to me. Basically, iphoto was not working properly so tech #1 had me import using image capture. He did not point out and I did not notice option to de-select box to "delete from device". I over trusted his "senior" title and followed blindly. It appeared the image capture was successful. The images/movies were deleted from my phone. However, working with the iphoto specialists, no images could we find...anywhere. I am very sad and almost sick at the loss.

I appreciate any miracle solution on how to recover data from the in-between world.

Two quick things to check are did you have photo stream on. It will be limited in how many, no videos etc but it might get back some of the items.

Also, how were you backing up your phone. Camera roll by default goes into an iCloud backup and I believe also an iTunes. It will get tricky as you'll have to erase your current stuff off your phone to try either. My roommate had his iPhone crash while he was trying to be cute and jailbreak it and it went into 'recovery mode' and had to be restored. He lost a bunch of photos he took of his niece that he hasn't imported yet. Discovered he had an iCloud backup, restored it and they were there. Suspect the same would be true of iTunes.

As for your import issue, did you have a large camera roll. I went traveling and had like 4000 photos and maybe 100 videos on my iPhone (don't do email, apps etc on it) and iPhoto and image capture were a pill to me too. iPhoto never fully loaded all the previews and image capture would crash if I tried to import all. If I did batches of like 100 photos or like 10 videos it was fine.

Good luck getting that sorted. Hopefully one of the two backups will have much, if not all.
