New Computer - Retina MBP vs. MB Air

Hello,

I just recently sold my MacMini Server and Cinema Display to make room and essentially, future proof the next four years of my life (at least). I'll be going to college and am in desperate need of a laptop anyway, so I am currently trying to figure it all out.

I am tied between the MacBook Pro Retina 13" and 13" MacBook Air. They are both extremely portable, but one is substantially more in cost than the other. They are both within budget, but I'd like to get all the angles.

I am a wanna-be graphic designer that dabbles in video editing as well. My majors in college are business and communications so having a laptop that has a little bit of power wouldn't be a bad thing, but I don't necessarily want it to be overkill..

If I were to get the MacBook Pro, it would be the baseline model. As per the Air, it would be the baseline with an upgrade to the RAM (8GB.)

Anyone have any thought out insight? I'm extremely analytic and indecisive so all opinions help.

I'm a graphic designer and I use the 15" Retina MBP for work - personally, if you're doing design work and video editing I'd get the MBP, you get more for your money and it's one of the best computers I've ever used. The MBA however, is a great machine and would do the job too.
